Ashford Stud, a satellite of Irish-based Coolmore Stud, announced fees of $125,000 for Fusaichi Pegasus and Giant's Causeway. Both stallions will be standing their third season in 2003. Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr. Prospector -- Angel Fever, by Danzig) and Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat -- Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) stood the past season for $135,000 and currently are standing at Coolmore in Australia.
Ashford also announced a $30,000 for incoming stallion Johannesburg. Three-year-old Johannesburg (Hennessy -- Myth, by Ogygian) won last year's Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and several championships. Thunder Gulch, sire of 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given, will undergo a drop in stud fee from $80,000 to $65,000. The son of Gulch out of the Storm Bird mare Line of Thunder also is standing at Coolmore Australia.
Grand Slam and Tale of the Cat, both of whom rank in the top five on the freshman list, will stand for $30,000 and $25,000, respectively.
