Garrett Gomez celebrates his Pacific Classic win aboard Skimming. Tiznow came home second.
The Bobby Frankel-trained Skimming was assigned highweight of 122 pounds for the $400,000 Meadowlands Cup Handicap (gr. II), a pound more than Golden Missile and three more than Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Fusaichi Pegasus. Each of the three top weighted horses, however, are under consideration for other races.

Others more likely for the race, with weights, are: Leave It to Beezer, 117; North East Bound, 116; Forty One Carats, 114; Rize, 114; last year's third-place finisher Vision and Verse, 114; Catienus, 113; Talk's Cheap, 112; and Valhol, 112.

Trainer Linda Rice said last week that Talk's Cheap, who is also nominated to the Hawthorne Gold Cup (gr. III), is being pointed to the Meadowlands Cup. The 1 1/8-mile Meadowlands Cup was won last year by Pleasant Breeze.

Catienus, also cross-nominated to the Hawthorne race, breezed four furlongs Monday at Aqueduct, getting the distance in :48.52.
