The Blood-Horse's own head-to-head competition, where executive editor Dan Liebman and managing editor Evan Hammonds were given mythical $1,000 bankrolls to bet the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, was no contest. Hammonds more than doubled up on his wagers, cashing in $2,006.20 while Liebman was only able to bank $144 for the day.

Liebman hit with only one of his wagers, a $80 win bet on High Chaparral in the Turf (gr. IT).

Hammonds hit a few bets on low-price horses, then finished up the card with a $1,442.20 pick three with Vindication in the Juvenile (gr. I), High Chaparral in the Turf, and the 43-1 Volponi in the Classic (gr. I) while pushing the "all" button.

Hammonds other cashable wagers were as follows. A $30 place bet on Composure brought in $51 and a $20 exacta box of Storm Flag Flying and Composure earned $128 in the Juvenile Fillies (gr. I). A $50 win bet on Vindication was worth $255 and $40 to win on High Chaparral lifted the bankroll an additional $76.

A total of $54 of Hammonds' bets were returned with the scratch of Sky Mesa in the Juvenile.
