Twenty-nine minutes before the first Breeders' Cup race today at Arlington, the track condition was upgraded to fast. It began the day as muddy, quickly was switched to good, and then announced as fast.
In the first two races on the card, supporting stakes, horses on the lead ran well. They raced with a tailwind down the backside and then turned into the wind.
Gold Mover won the first race, the Safely Kept Handicap, going seven furlongs in 1:22 3/5. In the second, Hero's Tribute covered nine furlongs in 1:49 to win the Black Tie Affair.
The turf is listed as yielding.
