Trainer Wayne Catalano, who won the first race when Arlington Park reopened after two dark years in 2000, set a meet record Oct. 25 when he won his 63rd race of the meet.

Catalano, 46, trains for Frank Calabrese, who tops the Arlington meet owner standings by almost 50 wins to his nearest competitor. The meet earnings for "Team Calabrese" top $1.2 million.

Calabrese set the record with Nicholas Cal, who won a $28,000 maiden special weight event for 2-year-olds. The milestone was achieved on the eve of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.

"It was wonderful," Catalano said in the winner's circle after the victory. "We've had a really nice run. Team Calabrese was tough to beat. I couldn't have gotten here without all of my employees."
