Grand Slam Colt Tops Final Session of Fasig-Tipton Sale Fasig-Tipton catalogued 385 hips for the second session, with 335 passing through the ring. Of that number, 252 sold for a gross of $2,851,000 and an average of $11,313. The median price was $6,000.For the two-day sale, 519 of the 774 catalogued hips sold for $6,381,400 with an average price of $12,296. The median was $6,000. Last year, 323 hips sold for $4,144,800 with an average price of $12,832. The median price was $6,500.Tuesday's session topper was bred in Kentucky by Ten Broeck Farm Inc., who originally consigned the colt as a weanling, through Taylor Made Sales Agency, to the 2001 Keeneland November mixed sale where Horse France purchased him for $42,000. He was sold again at the 2002 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling sale from the Woods Edge Farm consignment where Horse France paid $35,000.Buckram Oak also purchased a $75,000 Louis Quatorze colt out of the winning Conquistador Cielo mare Pattern from the Blake Agency consignment. Curtis and Iris Przyborowski bred the colt in Kentucky.The second highest price of the night was paid when Chase Stable, through a phone bid, went to $95,000 for a Forest Wildcat colt out of the grade I winning Nodouble mare Shocker T. The colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Faygo (by Mr. Prospector) and stakes-placed Shock Me (by Nijinsky II). Thomasina Caporella bred the Forest Wildcat colt in Florida. He was originally consigned to the 2002 Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's August yearling sale through Big C Farm, agent. He failed to meet his reserve and was bought back for $97,000. |
