Danehill, who is based at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, became the second sire in history and the first shuttle stallion to hit the 200 mark by number of stakes winners. His son, Australian-bred Dane River, came through with the big one when he won the Oct. 20 Newlands Thoroughbred Seymour Cup for owner Riverend Park Syndicate.

Danehill's double-century stakes winner came quickly, considering that his 150th stakes winner was achieved in the summer of last year. Sixteen-year-old Danehill (Danzig -- Razyana, by His Majesty) had shuttled to Australia starting in 1990, but his oversea journey stopped this year. He trails only Coolmore stallion Sadler's Wells by total stakes winners.
