Paul J. Reddam's Momentum, a contender for the $4 million Breeders' Cup Classic Oct. 26, has been withdrawn from the race due to a soft tissue injury to his right foreleg.
"We noticed it yesterday and he was scheduled to work today," trainer Craig Dollase said Saturday morning from his Hollywood Park headquarters. "It looks like he'll be out a few months, then we'll re-scan it and see where we are."
Momentum, a 4-year-old son of Nureyev, was second in his last three races – the Goodwood (gr. II) at Santa Anita, the Pacific Classic (gr. I) at Del Mar, and the Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I) at Hollywood Park.
A winner of four of 16 career starts, with seven seconds and two thirds, Momentum has career earnings of $664,829.
