Most Feared was back on the track at Arlington Park Saturday morning and the Arlington- Washington Futurity (gr. III) winner flashed speed in a six-furlong work as he prepped for the Bessemer Trust Juvenile.
Wearing blinkers with jockey Ray Sibile aboard, the Commanchero colt zipped six furlongs in 1:12 1/5, with fractional splits of :11 3/5, :23 3/5, :34 4/5, :46 4/5, and :59 2/5.
Despite a final time faster than he expected, trainer Ronny Werner said he was not concerned that the work will take anything out of the juvenile colt.
"It was a little faster than I was expecting," Werner said. "I didn't expect him to work that fast, but when he came back he wasn't blowing hard. I like for horses to work within themselves and that's what he wanted to do.
Out on the track while the skies were still overcast and the air brisk, Touch Tone warmed up by galloping in front of the grandstand before beginning the work at the three-quarter pole. The multiple stakes winner who finished second to Point Given in the 2001 Haskell Invitational was timed in 1:13 for the six furlongs and galloped out seven-eighths of a mile in 1:26 1/5.
"It was just what I wanted," Werner said of Touch Tone's work under Frank Lovato, Jr.. "It was perfect."
Werner said he has secured the services of Jorge Chavez to ride the son of Pick Up the Phone who finished third to Xtra Heat in the Phoenix Breeders' Cup at Keeneland.
The Werner horses were the only two Breeders' Cup hopefuls to tune up at Arlington Park Saturday, but there were workouts at other tracks across the country.
At Hollywood Park, Sprint probable Swept Overboard was timed in :59, with Corey Nakatani up, for a five furlong work from out of the gate.
