Jungle Racing’s Mizdirection, winner of four consecutive graded stakes, worked five furlongs on turf in 1:00 1/5 June 2 at Betfair Hollywood Park in preparation for the $500,000 Just a Game Stakes (gr. IT) at Belmont Park June 8.
Trainer Mike Puype, who caught the work in :59 4/5, said the 5-year-old Mizzen Mast mare will fly to New York June 4 for the mile grass race.
Under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, Mizdirection was timed in :23 3/5 for the opening quarter and :47 2/5 for a half mile, according to track clocker and morning line maker Russ Hudak.
Since taking the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT) over males to cap her 2012 campaign, Mizdirection is 3-for-3 this season. She has rattled off consecutive wins this year in the Monrovia (gr. IIT), Buena Vista (gr. IIT), and Las Cienegas (gr. IIIT) stakes, all at Santa Anita. The Buena Vista was contested at one mile while the other two were at about 6 1/2 furlongs over the hillside turf course.
Mizdirection has worked four times over the Hollywood turf since the April 13 Las Cienegas.
She has 10 wins from 15 lifetime starts, including eight of her past nine, while earning more than $1.1 million. Bred in Kentucky by Joseph J. Perrotta, the gray/roan mare is out of the Clever Trick mare Deceptive.
