Evening Attire headed for Arlington after good Monday work.
Evening Attire, winner of the Jockey Club Gold Cup and Saratoga Breeders' Cup in his last two starts, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 Monday over the Belmont training track.
"The training track was sealed and was in better shape than the main track," trainer Pat Kelly said. "So, we were able to get a nice five-eighths work in him. So far, so good."
As Kelly spoke at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Evening Attire was being loaded on a van for his 18-hour trip to Arlington. He'll have his final work next Monday or Tuesday. Originally, he was going to work today and fly to Chicago on Oct. 16, but that Tex Sutton flight was canceled when Bobby Frankel decided to keep his horses in New York for a few extra days and give them their final works at Belmont.
Evening Attire will be only the second Classic horse on the grounds, joining Macho Uno, who turned in a sharp mile work 1:40 at Arlington Monday. Harlan's holiday also worked at Belmont monday, going six furlongs in 1:16 4/5.
