NYRA Will Ask to Extend Belmont Fall Meeting by One Week

The New York Racing Association board approved a 2003 calendar that adds a week to the Belmont fall meeting. The schedule must be approved by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.
The Belmont fall meet would be 38 days, from Sept. 5 through Oct. 26. The Aqueduct fall meeting would then run for 44 days, from Oct. 29 to Dec. 31.
The other dates to be submitted: Aqueduct winter, 50 days, Jan. 1 through March 9; Aqueduct spring, 38 days, March 12 through May 4; Belmont spring, May 7 through July 20; and Saratoga, 36 days, July 23 through Sept. 1
