Mott to Meadowlands With Del Mar Show

Del Mar Show, the winner of the Bernard Baruch Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga earlier this year, is the 121-pound highweight for Friday's Cliff Hanger Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Meadowlands. The race is slated to go off at about 10:41 p.m.

The Bernard Baruch was run at nine furlongs. Since that race Del Mar Show has run in the Atto Mile (Can-IT) where he finished 10th. Perhaps Del Mar Show, who has only one of his nine wins at the one mile distance, will do better with the Cliff Hanger's 8 1/2 furlongs. The last time Del Mar Show competed at 8 1/2 furlongs was in January when he won the Fort Lauderdale Handicap (gr. IIIT). Bill Mott trains the 5-year-old son of Theatrical for the Allen Paulson Living Trust.

One of Del Mar Show's opponents Friday, Dr. Kashnikow, finished third in his last start, the Sept. 14 Belmont Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) at nine furlongs. The last time he raced at 8 1/2 furlongs he finished second in the Sussex Handicap at Delaware Park.

Also on Friday night's card is the $50,000 Half Moon Stakes for fillies going six furlongs on the dirt. Bailey and Mott have a horse in that race as well, Slews Final Answer. She won her last start, a six furlong Belmont allowance, by 2 1/2 lengths.

Meadowlands will offer a Columbus Day card on Monday with a 1:10 p.m. post. Admission will be $1.
