Magnaten, a Kentucky-bred son of Danzig, posted a two-length triumph over Eishin Preston (by Green Dancer) and American Boss (Kingmambo) in the grade II Mainichi Okan at Japan's Nakayama Racecourse Sunday. Favored Sunrise Pegasus finished fourth, a neck behind American Boss (by Kingmambo).

The 6-year-old gelding owned by Takao Komai and trained by Kazuo Fujisawa completed the distance of almost 1 1/8 miles in 1:46.1. Bred by Hideo Fukunaga, Magnaten has won 11 of 27 starts and earned ¥287.9 million (about $2,340,650).
