Serena's Tune, the first foal out of champion Serena's Song, finished a troubled fifth as the odds-on choice in a five-horse allowance race Wednesday at Belmont Park. Second wagering choice Shop Here won by 6 1/2 lengths over Diablo's Girl.
Serena's Tune, who won her debut race at Del Mar in August by seven lengths, was pinched back at the start by the eventual winner and then stumbled before rushing up to lead by a 1/2 length after the opening quarter mile of the seven-furlong race. As the Neil Drysdale trainee began to tire under jockey Jerry Bailey, Shop Here assumed the lead and drew off through the stretch, stopping the timer in 1:23.71. The winner, an Allen Jerkens-trained 2-year-old daughter of Dehere, paid $6.80 and led an $18.20 exacta. (Chart,
