Airwave advanced from last to first to take the Betfair Cheveley Park Stakes (Eng-I) today at Newmarket. The test for 2-year-old fillies over six furlongs was run in 1:10.72. Airwave is a British bred daughter of Air Express out of the Indian Ridge mare Kangra Valley co-owned and trained by Henry Candy. She went off at odds of better than 5-1.
Favorite Russian Rhythm gained the lead one furlong out, but failed to quicken in the end. She finished a half-length in front of Danaskaya. Ego was fourth.
Airwave was bred by Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Watson.
