TVG will present exclusive live coverage of Sunday's €1.6 million Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr. I) from Longchamp Racecourse outside of Paris during a special three-hour program airing from 9 a.m.-Noon EDT. Post time for the Arc, a 1 1/2-mile race for horses 3-and-up, is 11:30 a.m. ET.
The show will also feature five other group I races: the Prix Marcel Boussac (2-year-old fillies at one-mile), the Grand Criterium (2-year-olds at seven furlongs), the Prix du Grand Hotel Barrieire (4-year-old-and-up at 2 1/2 miles), the Prix de l'Abbaye (2-year-old-and-up at five furlongs) and the Prix de l'Opera (3-year-old-and-up, fillies & mares at 1 1/4 miles).
All Arc Day races are on the turf and serve as steppingstones for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, to be held Oct. 26 at Arlington Park. Last year's Arc winner Sakhee was runner-up to Tiznow in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I). This year's likely favorites are the Pascal Bary-trained Sulamani, winner of the French Derby (Fr-I), and the Aidan O'Brien-trained High Chaparral, who won the English (Eng-I) and Irish (Ir-I)Derbys. Also posing a threat will be the Godolphin Stables' Marienbard, off a win in the Grosser Preis von Baden (Ger-I).
Host Chris Harrison will be joined by TVG analyst Frank Lyons from TVG's studios in Los Angeles. In addition to telecasting the races, TVG will offer a full menu of interactive wagering on all six races through Arlington Park, the Western Hemisphere's exclusive agent for wagering on the Arc Day card.
