Zinziberine, who has placed in three group events, reached stakes-winning status by taking the Oct. 2 Prix Eclipse (Fr-III) at Maisons-Laffitte. Trained by Andre Fabre and campaigned by his wife, the bay Zieten filly raced in fifth for part of the six-furlong race over good going against six juvenile rivals, and withstood a bumping incident some two furlongs out to go on to win by three-quarters of a length over Acago in the time of 1:08.6.
Zinziberine, who earned $64,892 for her effort, was bred in the U.S. by
F.B. McEntee, and commanded $60,000 as a weanling at the 2000 Keeneland November breeding stocks sale. Her dam, Amenixa (by Linamix), is a full sister to French champion Amilynx.
