Two Punch Colt Tops First Day of Midlantic Sale; Average Dips

A Two Punch colt produced from the stakes winning Star de Naskra mare Five Star Night was purchased by McMahon Bloodstock for $105,000 to top Monday's opening session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic yearling sale in Timonium, Md. Consigned by Candyland Farm, the colt is a half-brother to added-money winners Five Star Deputy (by Silver Deputy) and Time to Dream (Time for a Change).
The sales company reported 185 yearlings were sold for $2,864,500 and an average price of $15,484. During the comparable session one year ago, 183 yearlings averaged $15,957 from a gross of $2,920,100. This yea's median price of $10,000 represented a gain over last year's session median of $7,500. The 52 horses not sold Monday was 21.9% of the total 237 through the ring.
The sale continues through Wednesday.
