German-based Paolini, second in the 2001 running of the Canadian International and the 4-1 second choice in the morning line for Sunday's race, worked three furlongs in :37 2/5, breezing over the E.P. Taylor Turf Course Friday.
The 5-year-old Lando chestnut worked in company with Celtic Approval, a 3-year-old colt trained by Mike Doyle, over a "firm, dogs out" course. Celtic Approval went in :38-flat, breezing.
Paolini is winless in three 2002 starts, two of which he could have won, for trainer Andreas Wohler and owner Mrs. Carde Ostermann-Richter.
He will be ridden on Sunday by Andreas Suborics.
