Breeders' Cup Future Bet: Final Pool Closes

Storm Flag Flying and Vindication were made the favorites in the Breeders' Cup Future Bet for the juvenile championship races to be contested Oct. 26 at Arlington Park as part of the World Thoroughbred Championships.
As low as 1-9 at one point in the Juvenile Fillies future betting pool, which began Friday, Storm Flag Flying closed at 7-5. Santa Catarina, the Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) runner-up, was made the second choice at 5-1. The field is 10-1, while others garnering support were Del Mar Debutante winner Miss Houdini (15-1), Fircroft (17-1), Atlantic Ocean (18-1), Russian Rhythm (19-1) and Midnight Cry (20-1).
In the 2-year-old colt division, Vindication (7-2) was favored over Sky Mesa (9-2), and Whywhywhy (7-1) and the field (11-1). Others getting consideration were Lone Star Sky (15-1), Pretty Wild and Zavata (16-1).
A total of $107,125 was wagered in the three-day pool, which was the last of four betting pools offered for the Breeders' Cup races since July. The juvenile totaled $55,104 in wagering while the betting handle for juvenile fillies was $52,021.
