In an impressive gate to wire performance, Ivanavinalot won Saturday's $100,000 Brave Raj Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Calder Race Course.
She won the mile and 70 yards race by five lengths over Dakota Light in a stakes record equaling time of 1:45.
Trained by Kathleen O'Connell, Ivanavinalot is now a winner of four races from five starts, including two stakes.
The runaway winner of the second division of the Florida Stallion Stakes, the $125,000 Susan's Girl on Aug. 31, she will most likely be the heavy favorite for the $400,000 My Dear Girl Division on Oct. 12, Festival of the Sun day. Breeder/owner Gilbert Campbell confirmed that the rich finale to the Florida Stallion Stakes is the next target for his star filly.
"I really had no questions about her going a distance but you always worry about racing luck like what happened to her in the Desert Vixen (hit gate and bumped soundly, finished fourth)," said O'Connell. "I wasn't really concerned about where she was (early) in today's race as long has she had good position. The way it came up, she ended up on the lead. She drifted out a little in the stretch, but I think she's still just a little green."
Jockey Manoel Cruz has ridden Ivanavinalot in each of her races. Coupled with stablemate Truly the Best, the entry went off at odds of 4-5. Ivanavinalot paid $3.60 for the win.
Longshot Dakota Light, at 25-to-1, was second with Puxa Saco, the 2-to-1 second betting choice, finishing third.
