Jockey Rosemary Homeister was dismounted from her horse, Jolie Good, in Calder's first race Friday after the 2-year-old filly swerved sharply to the left after leaving the starting gate from post position number one.
The two crashed into the temporary rail and Homeister hit the ground rather hard, but, fortunately, was not seriously hurt.
She did, however, need three stitches to a gash in her right knee and has suffered cuts to her lip. Some body soreness also led her to take off her mounts Saturday, but she hopes to fulfill her riding commitments on Sunday.
Jolie Good was not harmed in the incident.
