According to Gololphin assistant trainer Tom Albertaini, E Dubai, the Suburban Handicap (gr. II) winner will likely miss the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I). The Gold Cup, run at 1 1/4 miles at Belmont Park on Sept. 28, was scheduled to be the final start for the son of Mr. Prospector has he headed to the World Thoroughbred Championships for the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Arlington Park on Oct. 266.
Albertrani said the Meadowlands Cup (gr. II) on Oct. 4 is a possibility, but he said the bay colt may go straight to the Breeders' Cup. E Dubai is trained by Saeed bin Suroor.
E Dubai, a $1,350,000 Keeneland September yearling, has won five of 10 starts, including last year's Dwyer Handicap (gr. II). He also finished second to last year's Horse of the Year Point Given in the Travers Stakes (gr. I). E Dubai, bred in Kentucky by Arthur Hancock III and Stonerside Stable, is out of the multiple stakes-winning Lord At War mare Words of War. He's earned $920,800.
Best of the Bests, the Prix d'Ispahan (Fr-I) winner, also a Jockey Gold Cup nominee, is also likely to not go, leaving Express Tour as the sold Godolphin representitive for the $1-million race.
