Boiling Spring Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIIT) winner Storm Dream and Fictitious, winner of the De La Rose Handicap (gr. IIIT), head the six horses listed as probable for the $100,000 Noble Damsel Handicap (gr. IIIT). The one-mile turf race for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up will be run Saturday at Belmont Park.
After finishing third in the Entenmanns Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) at the Curragh in May, 3-year-old Storm Dream (Catrail--Mamara Reef, by Salse) was transferred to trainer Philip Johnson's barn. In three races in the United States, Storm Dream has won two races and finished fourth in the other, the Lake Placid Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga.
Since winning the De La Rose at Gulfstream Park in March, Christophe Clement trainee Fictitious finished third in the Beaugay Handicap (gr. IIIT) and sixth in the Diana Handicap (gr. IIT), both won by Perfect Sting. The 4-year-old daughter of Machiavellian has won five of 11 career races.
Also listed as probable for the Noble Damsel are Babae, La Ville Rouge, Luricon, and Spook Express. Those considered possible by the New York Racing Association are Coracle, Eze, Final Tango, Gino's Spirit, and Heliotrope.
Spook Express, the 1998 champion 3-year-old filly in South Africa, worked four furlongs over the inner turf course at Belmont Park Sunday. The daughter of Comic Blush completed the drill over the turf listed as good in :51.45, breezing.
