Repent, runner-up in last month's Travers Stakes (gr. I), worked five furlongs in 1:00.65 Sunday at Belmont in preparation for the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) Sept. 28.

The clocking was the third fastest of 20 moves at the distance for the 3-year-old son of Louis Quatorze.

Trained by Kenny McPeek, Repent will be making his second start in the Gold Cup since having surgery to remove a bone chip from his left ankle in April. He has earned more than $1.2 million in only nine career starts for his owner, Select Stable.

Harlan's Holiday, former stablemate of Repent who is now in the barn of Todd Pletcher, is also a possibility for the Gold Cup. The 3-year-old son of Harlan drilled five furlongs on Sunday in 1:02.60, 12th fastest of the day. Harlan's Holiday won the Pennsylvania Derby (gr. III) on Sept. 2 in his most recent outing.

Harlan's Holiday, off 3 ½ months since his fourth-place finish in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) in May, has earned $1,816,564 for owners Jack and Laurie Wolf.
