Trailthefox earned a 1 1/4-length win over Starbury in the $150,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. II) Saturday at Arlington International. The pair ran away from the field of 2-year-olds through the stretch as Starbury came home 7 1/2 lengths clear of third-place finisher Blame It On Ruby. Under Shane Sellers, Trailthefox led at every call, completing the one-turn mile in 1:37.25 over a muddy track.

"He broke with his ears up and relaxed nice for me and took me to the lead on his own," said Sellers.

Spectacular Cat finished fourth, followed by Saint Damien, Take Arms, One by the Knows, Cee Dee, What's Up Dog, Firststatedeposit, and Wheat Penny. The winner returned $6.60, $4.60, and $4. The winning exacta combination paid $108.80.

Trailthefox (Foxtrail--Suborned, by Ascot Knight) earned $90,000 for owners Jack Libeau and others. The win, his third in six career races, marks his first in a graded stakes. In his most recent start, Trailthefox finished second to Flame Thrower in the Best Pal Stakes (gr. III). Prior to the Best Pal, he won the restricted Bull Page Stakes after being claimed for $50,000 from Roger E. Berg. Trailthefox is trained by Patrick Biancone and was bred in California by Lathrop Hoffman.

"We are going to leave him here for a few days and maybe we'll go to the Champagne (Stakes, gr. I)," said Biancone. (Chart, Equibase)
