Festival of Light Arrives for Stud Duty at Valor

Festival of Light, Dubai's Horse of the Year of 2001, has arrived at Clarence and Dorothy Scharbauer Jr.'s Valor Farm near Pilot Point, Texas, where he will begin his stud career for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud Management. The 5-year-old son of A.P. Indy will stand for $4,000 live foal.

Bred by Helen Alexander and her mother, Helen Groves, Festival of Light won all three starts in Dubai his championship season in the Godolphin silks of Sheikh Mohammed and family members. His big win came in the Jebel Ali Hotel & Resort Godolphin Mile (UAE-III). Festival of Light was retired with three wins from nine starts and earnings of $632,291 in Dubai and North America.

Festival of Light's dam, stakes winner Aurora (by Danzig), is a daughter of champion Althea. Third dam is Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Courtly Dee.
