Dr. Raymond Sweeney reported Sunday that Magic Weisner's condition is stable to slightly improved at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center.

"Every day he gets just a little better," said Sweeney, who added that he was pleased with the improvement.

Magic Weisner, the Preakness and Haskell Invititational runner-up, is being treated with anti-inflammatory medications for the signs of encephalitis.

Nancy Alberts bred, owns, and trains the 3-year-old Magic Weisner.

Magic Weisner's second-place finish to War Emblem in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) was followed by a win in the grade II Ohio Derby. Magic Weisner has earnings of $888,110. He was scheduled to run in Monday's Pennsylvania Derby (gr. III) before he became ill.
