New York City Off-Track Betting Corp. said its two branches nearest to the World Trade Center site will be closed Sept. 11, the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
The branches that will close for the day are located at 25 Park Place and 17 John Street.
NYCOTB's other 63 facilities, as well as its telephone wagering center, will suspend operations at noon Sept. 11 to observe a one-minute moment of silence.
"Like every city agency, OTB will remain open for business for Sept. 11," NYCOTB president Raymond Casey said. "We think it is appropriate, however, that our two branches nearest ground zero remain closed that day out of respect to those attending memorial services at the site."
