August was not only dry along the Jersey Shore, but also at Monmouth Park's mutuel windows.

The average daily on-track handle on Monmouth's races fell 15.7% to $785,976 and the on-site betting, including simulcasting, dropped 10% to average $1,466,065. The total handle on Monmouth's live races averaged $3,450,861, down 12.7%, and average daily all-sources handle for the 78-day meet was down 11.1% to $4,130,950. Average on-track attendance decreased 8% to 9,838. Monmouth raced eight more days than last year.

Tim Hills was leading trainer with 28 winners and jockey Eibar Coa's 82 winners garnered him his second consecutive title as Monmouth's leading rider.
