Street Cry, whose retirement from racing was announced Tuesday, Sept. 3, was the moderate betting favorite for the Breeders' Cup Classic when wagering on NTRA's Breeders' Cup Future Bet closed Monday.
The Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships are Oct. 26 at Arlington Park.
Godolphin's Street Cry, who was also the advanced wager favorite for the Classic in the opening pool a month ago, is a lukewarm choice at 6-1, same as he was in last month's wagering.
War Emblem, who had been favored for the preceding three days, floated to 7-1, where he was joined in the odds by late mover Macho Uno. Repent (8-1), Momentum (9-1), Came Home (12-1), Medaglia d'Oro (13-1) and Milwaukee Brew (14-1) also garnered attention. A total of $82,558 was wagered in the Classic pool.
In the Distaff, Azeri (2-1), who was also the favorite in the first pool at 5-2, maintained her dominance in the division. Summer Colony made a late move to be the 5-1 second choice. She's followed by Farda Amiga (7-1), Bella Bellucci (10-1), and Take Charge Lady and Imperial Gesture (both 14-1).
Great prices could be had on the remainder of the Distaff pool, where $38,256 was bet.
Only in the Sprint was there a change in favorite from last month's betting pool, with the shift from the field (6-1 first time around) to Orientate, at 4-1 odds.
Gygistar is the second choice at 6-1, with Swept Overboard at 7-1. Distrubingthepeace made a huge betting move on the final day from 25-1 Sunday to 11-1.
Other leading contenders are Squirtle Squirt (12-1), Carson Hollow (13-1), Xtra Heat (14-1) , the field (15-1) and Kona Gold (17-1). Bonapaw floated to 19-1 in the end. There was a Sprint pool of $39, 884.
Pool three's four-day total money wagered: $160,968.
