Sheikh Fahad Al Thani's recently retired French stayer Dunaden, winner of the 2011 Melbourne Cup (Aus-I) en route to champion stayer honors in Australia, will stand at Simon Sweeting's Overbury Stud in England next year.
The 8-year-old son of Nicobar out of the unraced Kaldounevees mare La Marlia, also has top-level victories in the 2011 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase (HK-I) and 2012 BMW Caulfield Cup (Aus-I) for trainer Mikel Delzangles. He has a 10-11-9 record from 46 career starts in seven seasons that also includes runner-up finishes in the 2013 Investec Coronation Stakes (Eng-I), Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I), and Longines Hong Kong Vase (HK-I) and a thrid in the Prix Ganay (Fr-I). He has a lifetime bankroll of $8,371,342
"I am delighted we have found Dunaden a wonderful home with such a professional operator as Simon Sweeting," said David Redvers, Sheikh Fahad's racing and bloodstock adviser.
Sweeting added: "It is hugely exciting to be standing a horse of Dunaden's stature and to be involved with Sheikh Fahad and David Redvers."
Dunaden's 3-year-old full brother Pearl Dragon, who also races under Sheikh Fahad's Pearl Bloodstock banner, won his career debut Aug. 4 in France for Delzangles.
A stud fee for Dunaden will be announced at a later date.
