Millionaire Congaree leads a small but talented field of six in Monday's $250,000 Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at one mile on the main track.

Congaree has career earnings of $1.2 million, including money earned from third-place finishes in the 2001 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and victory in the Swaps Stakes (gr. II).

His record shows five wins and four thirds in 11 career starts. He posted one of those thirds in his most start, Del Mar's San Diego Handicap (gr. II) Aug. 4. The son of Arazi will carry high weight of 119 and will spot his foes from three to 10 pounds.

Prime among his competitors are Euchre, who finished second in the San Diego for trainer Robert Frankel, and Kela, who is on a two-race winning streak, including a solid win at the allowance level at Del Mar July 27.

In three career starts at Del Mar, Kela has posted two wins and a second. Both wins came at a mile.

Euchre worked three furlongs in 36.20 Saturday morning.

Rounding out the field are Reba's Gold, Pie N Burger and Prodigious.
