Led by a Sligo Bay   filly, the open session of the Canadian premier yearling sale registered increases in total sales, average, and median Sept. 3 in Toronto.

The open session sale topper was a gray filly by Sligo Bay, out of the With Approval mare Kiamika, who sold for $57,000. Consigned by Woodlands (Gail Wood), agent, the filly was purchased by Morgan Racing. 

The open session resulted in sales of $461,000, an increase of 35.9%. With a smaller catalog and smaller number of 59 yearlings sold, the average selling price of $7,814 reflects a 72.8% increase. The median was $4,500, a 50% higher than in 2013.
