Golan, will enter stud at Coolmore following the Japan Cup.
European millionaire Golan is scheduled to make his farewell start in the Japan Cup (Jpn-I) in November before beginning his stallion career at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, according to the Racing Post. Coolmore bought an interest in Golan from Lord Arnold Weinstock before last year's Epsom Derby (Eng-I), in which he ran second. Weinstock died four days before Golan won the July 27 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I). Golan, who races for Weinstock's estate, ran second in the Aug. 20 Juddmonte International Stakes (Eng-I) in his last start.
Bred by Arnold Weinstock's Ballymacall Stud Farm in Ireland, Golan (Spectrum--Highland Gift, by Generous) has won four of nine starts and earned $1,623,376. He ran sixth in last year's Japan Cup.
