Zippy Chippy, who holds the modern-day record for futility with an 0-93 record in horse races, has found a winning niche in exhibition races against minor league baseball players.
Thursday night, Zippy won a 45-yard dash against Rochester Red Wings outfielder Larry Bigbie. Bigbie was filling in for Brian Roberts, himself a fill-in for injured Darnell McDonald. Roberts developed influenza on Thursday. Last year, Zippy beat McDonald in a 50-year dash over t he same Frontier Field outfield grass that was the site of Thursday's win.
"He's tired of losing," Zippy Chippy's owner-trainer Felix Monserrate told the Rochester
Democrat and Chronicle. "He likes this track."
