Islington captured her second straight group I win Wednesday with an outstanding performance in the Ashton Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks at York. The daughter of Sadler's Wells finished five lengths ahead of her nearest rival, Guadaloupe.

In her last start, Islington won the Aug. 3 Vodafone Nassau Stakes (Eng-I) by four lengtsh. Sulk was second in that effort, and finished third in Wednesday's Yorkshire Oaks. Michael Stoute trains the winner.

Kazzia, Godolophin's undefeated German filly who won this year's 1,000 Guineas and Vodafone Oaks, was favored at 7-4. Islington was the second choice at 2-1. Starbourne led the field in the early going, followed by Kazzia and Islington. With three furlongs to go, Kazzia and jockey Frankie Dettori took the lead. Islington, under Kieran Fallon, continued to pressure the leader until she took the lead with just about two furlongs left to run in the nearly 11/2-mile race.

The late Lord Weinstock, who died in late July, bred Islington in the name of his Ballymacoll Stud Farm. Weinstock's executors continue to race the filly. She is out of the Darshaan mare Hellenic.
