Christo Philipson, a longtime member of the British Bloodstock Agency staff, died in Scotland Monday, according to the Racing Post. Philipson, 73, served as BBA's executive chairman and spent 37 years at the company. He retired in March of 2001.

Philipson operated Lofts Hall Stud near Saffron Walden in Essex, England, with his wife, Mary. The 110-acre property houses their small broodmare band from which they bred group winners Islay Mist, Last Attempt and stakes winners Captain Nick and Desert Mist. Philipson also bred and raced Misty Halo.

Philipson helped found and spearhead the Federation of Bloodstock Agents and served on the Pattern Race Committee.
