Tic N Tin Heads Zen Handicap at Arlington

Ron L. Brandenburg's Tic N Tin, winner of the $84,400 White Oak Handicap at Arlington Park on June 22, has been handed top impost of 123 pounds for his expected return to Arlington in Sunday's $50,000 Zen Handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs.

In the White Oak, Tic N Tin prompted the early pace, took command turning for home, battled for the lead throughout the stretch run and prevailed by a nose at the wire of the 6-furlong test. In his most recent outing, the Southern Illinois-based son of Lac Ouimet captured the $25,000 Shecky Greene Handicap at Fairmount Park by 5 3/4-lengths on July 19. Prior to that, he had disappointed in the $42,000 Dr. Fager Handicap June 30 at Arlington, finishing fifth, beaten by eighth lengths.

Others likely to contest the Zen Handicap include Asiel Stable's Classic Appeal and William Cortesi's Magic Doe, sharing the next highest weight assignment of 119 pounds apiece.

Also expected for the sprint test: Freeway Ticket Partnership's Freeway Ticket and Terry Renfrow & Eugene Young's Too Many Bucks, each with 117 pounds; and Irene Hock, Vance Gricus & Jack Bogan's Meadow Champ, in light with 114 pounds.

Considered possible for the Zen at this time: W. Dean West's Lil Charlie Too and Samuel Henry, Dominic Marsella & Emerald Ridge Farm's Manitowish, both assigned 114 pounds.
