Thomas Mina's No Parole, winner of the Mike Lee Stakes, is the 124-pound highweight for Saturday's $125,000 New York Derby, the second leg of the "Big Apple Triple." No Parole has a chance to become the first horse to sweep the series and earn the $250,00 bonus. The Mike Lee, the New York Derby at Finger Lakes, and the Aug. 21 Albany Stakes at Saratoga comprise the "Big Apple Triple," conceived in 1999.
In addition to No Parole, the second- through sixth-place finishers in the Mike Lee are among the seven entered in the New York Derby. The oly non-Mike Lee participant in the field is grade II Arkansas Derby winner Private Emblem.
