Calder Sets Handle Record on 'Summit of Speed' Card

The combined mutuel handle of $8,883,212 at Calder Saturday for the "Summit of Speed" program was an all-time record for the Calder meet. The amount bet on the 13-race card eclipsed the previous single day record of $8,878,346 set on Oct. 13, 2001, "Festival of the Sun" day.
The guaranteed $250,000 Pick 4 wager on four stakes on the Saturday Calder card took in $465,998 in wagers. The 7-5-8-4 combination paid $244.40.
