The Storm Cat colt Van Nistelrooy, who was sold for $6.4 million at the 2001 Keeneland September yearling sale, won July 14 at the Curragh in his debut. The 2-year-old colt scored by a half-length at seven furlongs for Sue Magnier, whose husband, John, is managing partner of Coolmore Stud. Van Nistelrooy was produced from the Halo mare Halory, whose four graded stakes winners includes 1998 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. II) winner Halory Hunter.
