Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner Mister Baileys will return to the country where he celebrated his biggest win. Mister Baileys (Robellino -- Thimblerigger, by Sharpen Up) has been purchased by Kern Lillingston Association and Warrender Associates and will stand at Chris Harper's Whitsbury Manor Stud in Hampshire, England. "We have been shareholders in this horse for some time and have bought several of his progeny at public auction," said Luke Lillingston. "His progeny are very promising."Mister Baileys was to stand his first season at England's National Stud in 1995, after retiring in 1994 with four wins in nine starts and $405,489 in earnings, but in December of that year he became seriously ill with grass sickness. After he was still very weak and requiring feedings through a stomach tube in February, the decision was made not to breed him that year. After his recovery Mister Baileys was purchased by Vinery, where he entered stud in 1996. The stallion, who has 163 foals from four crops and one stakes winner, Cool Ashlee, stood the 2000 season at Vinery for a $7,500 fee.
