In strong trade on the second day of the Tattersalls July mixed sale in England, 127 horses sold for 1,477,300 guineas (approximately $2,400,273). The two-day total for gross revenue was 2,831,000 guineas ($4,599,724), a record for the auction with one session still to go. The average for the second day of 11,541 guineas ($18,751) was slightly down from a year ago while the median rose 18% to 6,500 guineas ($10,561).

The top price on the second day was the 115,000 guineas ($186,849) paid for Mirpour by Wexford based bloodstock agent Sean Tiernan. Mirpour, trained on the Curragh by John Oxx for the Aga Khan, was the winner of a Leopardstown Handicap in May and will join trainer Eoin Griffin. The gelded son of Turtle Island is a half-brother to the group III winner Miliana and will race both on the flat and over hurdles for his new connections.

The sale's final session is Wednesday.
