Robert and Janice McNair's Tout Charmant, a turf specialist who was retired from racing in the spring and bred to Storm Cat, has been returned to Southern California trainer Ron McAnally. The 6-year-old mare left for the track July 8.

Tout Charmant lost her Storm Cat foal. "We checked her last at 18 days and she was fine, but was empty after we checked her after her 26th day," said Bobby Spalding, manager of the McNair's Stonerside Stable near Paris, Ky. "She's completely sound."

Tout Charmant (Slewvescent--Charm a Gendarme, by Batonnier) won eight of 27 races and earned $1,721,879 in her first go around. She captured a pair of grade I stakes and her six grade I stakes-placings included a runner-up effort in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.
