Despite a dismal beginning to his 4-year-old season, the D. Wayne Lukas-trained Yonaguska leads the eight-horse field for Saturday's $200,000 Philadelphia Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) at Philadelphia Park.
The Michael Tabor-owned Yonaguska, who will carry a high weight of 122 pounds in the Philadelphia Breeders' Cup, has failed to hit the board in two starts this year, after winning three of seven starts, all in graded company, last year.
In his first start this year, Yonaguska finished last of 10 in a one-mile allowance contest on the Santa Anita turf. He was given four months off before finishing fourth, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Explicit in the June 8 True North Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park.
In the Philadelphia Breeders' Cup, Yonaguska will face familiar rivals, Late Carson and Smile My Lord. Late Carson finished third in the True North while Smile My Lord finished seventh in the seven-horse field. Prior to the True North, Late Carson finished fourth in the May 11 Damitrius Stakes at Delaware Park, while Smile My Lord finished second, 7 3/4 lengths behind grade I winner Snow Ridge, in the May 18 Maryland Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III).
The field for the six-furlong $200,000 Philadelphia Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) includes:
1 -- Holiday Music (J. Gallegos, 114)
2 -- Really Irish (R. Vega, 114)

5 -- Smile My Lord (T. Dunkelberger, 115)
