Both Denon and Suances head into the United Nations off victories on June 15. Denon won the Charles Whittingham Handicap (gr. IT) that day at Hollywood Park, while Suances topped a field of eight horses at Lone Star Park in the Dallas Turf Cup. However, neither of those races was run over the 11 furlong United Nations distance.
Of the leading contenders to go to the gate Saturday, four of them have won at 11 furlongs or beyond--With Anticipation, who finished fourth in the Manhattan Handicap (gr. IT) in early June, Unite's Big Red, Crash Course, and Ready to Roll.
The $500,000 United Nations Handicap, for 3-year-olds and up, will be run Saturday, July 6.
