First Winners for Western Echo, Once a Sailor, Rodeo

Graded stakes winner Western Echo was represented by his first winner when Harry and Tom Meyerhoff's homebred Echo Lady won June 28 at Colonial Downs. The filly won at 5 1/2 furlongs in 1.06.35. Western Echo (Eastern Echo--Cherry d'Or, by Cassaleria) stands at Xanthus Farms near Gettysburg. Pa.

Once a Sailor, a multiple stakes winner, was represented by his initial winner the following day at Churchill Downs. Sea Scout, a colt bred by Richland Ranch and Sue Cook, won at 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.14 for owners L. T. B. and Miles Childers. Once a Sailor (Vice Regent--Cosmic Tiger, by Tim the Tiger) stands at Richland Ranch near Corsicana, Texas.

Rodeo was represented by his first winner when Thrown won June 27 at Belmont Park in his first start. A homebred for C. Peter Beler, Thrown threw in a winning time of :59.19 for five furlongs in her first start. Rodeo (Gone West--Wewarrenju, by Damascus) stands at Contemporary Stallions near Coxsackie, N.Y.
