Answer Lively Retired to Hill 'N' Dale

Answer Lively, the champion juvenile colt of 1988 who was reported as retired in June, will stand in 2001 at John Sikura's Hill 'N' Dale Farm near Lexington. He will stand as the property of Hill 'N' Dale and John Franks. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner was bred and raced by Franks. Answer Lively will stand for $3,500 live foal.

By Halo out of the Two's a Plenty mare Twosies Answer, Answer Lively retired with four wins in 14 starts. He was trained throughout his career by Bobby Barnett.
As a juvenile, Answer Lively finished second to Cat Thief in the Lane's End Breeders' Futurity (gr. II), then three weeks later won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile over Aly's Alley and Cat Thief.

As a 3-year-old, Answer Lively finished second in the Risen Star Stakes and Louisiana Derby (gr. II), by a nose and head, respectively. In his final Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prep, he ran fourth in the Arkansas Derby (gr. II). In Charismatic's Derby, Answer Lively finished 10th, beaten less than six lengths.

Answer Lively never started this year at four, having fractured a sesamoid in his left front leg. His final race was a sixth place finish in the Super Derby (gr. I) last October.

His sire, Lively One, stood at Franks Farm before being sold to Japan prior to Answer Lively's victory in the Juvenile.
